My crazy week!

29 08 2007

So this week has been insane for me and Melody.  I have inservice all week, but my main problem is that Matt has daily doubles at the exact same time, so childcare is difficult.  Fortunately, we have family in the area, so my mother, mother-in-law, and aunt-in-law have taken turns watching her.  However, 2 out of 3 of these childcare helpers live way out in Gresham, and my school is located on 122nd and Market.  All this to say, I’ve been in the car quite abit this week, which I hate, especially since I have no air conditioning and it’s been in the 80s all week.  And to top this all off, Melody is teething, which means that she’s a little cranky (not very bad, though) and hasn’t been taking all of her naps, which means that, when I’m at home, I get little to nothing done.  So, yes, this has been a stressful week for me.  Fortunately, this only happens once a year.  Once school actually starts, Matt will have the girl most days, and I won’t have to worry about when to pick her up and how I’m going to set my schedule to make sure she gets where she needs to go.  I will, however, really miss spending every minute of every day with her, because she is such a little angel!  I wish I had a rich relative leave me a million dollars so I could never work and just stay at home with my girl (and Matt, too!)  Anyway, I would appreciate everyone’s prayers as I enter this difficult period…pray for sanity for me, health and happiness for Melody, and patience for Matt as he takes over as primary caregiver.

Another new blessing

29 08 2007

I have so enjoyed the 5+ months so far with Melody!  Having a grandbaby is wonderful.  And it is great to see your children do such a good job being parents.  I just found out Friday that I get to be Grammie again in April!  My son, Jon and his wife, Kati are expecting their first baby sometime the first of April.  In some ways it is even MORE exciting the second time because you KNOW how great it is and how special those grandbabies are! We are all excited.

And, continuing on the Melody subject, I am getting to keep her on Wednesdays as Lisa goes back to school!  I will have her in the day time and then go into my work in the evening for some time with my night crew. It should be a great win-win situation for me!  I LOVE the time I get to spend with her.  She is such a special little girl!

I am also so excited that our hospital’s JCAHO, every three year, biting your nails,  really BIG deal, survey is completed for 2007!  And that I am moving into a redesign of our structure on my units that will be very exciting and will increase the satisfaction of my staff, getting them more involved in the decision-making on the unit.

I am also VERY excited over football season starting!  High school games are a blast (of course it helps to be related to the coaches) and I love the college games too.  Lisa and I and hopefully Kati, will be making the trek to every Portland Christian game this year, and our once a season trip to a Ducks game.

I praise God for daily giving the small and large blessings, answers to prayer and the confidence that He is right there beside me no matter what happens during my day.

Whew!

24 08 2007

This was a long, hot week for me.  But totally worth it.  Getting to hang out with a bunch of young men, teaching them to play football and work hard and give glory to God.   It’s tons of fun, but I am tired and sunburned

I hope that you guys can come to some games this year and support these guys.

Vacation

20 08 2007

Hello! This is all new to me, so I am giving it a try! I had a great week. Last Thursday through Monday I was at the beach with Matt, Lisa, Melody, Jon and Kati. We had a great time! Weather was great most of the time and it was nice to just kick back and relax a bit. But I did miss getting to church on Sunday! Three days of work and then I took Friday off as my last day of ‘vacation’ to go to the zoo with Lisa, Melody and Lisa’s best friend Brooke, her son, Joel and Brooke’s mom, Joyce (my best friend)! We had a good time. The babies mostly liked the people not the animals, but it was fun being together and sharing the experience. Today I went to Street of Dreams with Jon and Kati (my son and daughter-in-law). I can only say, my house would fit in some of those bathrooms! But, I enjoyed going just for fun to see modern-day ‘castles’ and get decorating ideas! But don’t expect a moat around my house very soon (one of the houses had that!)!! See you tomorrow! I will be glad to be at small group, it seems like ages since we met last! Carol

God works in mysterious ways…

20 08 2007

So, Matt and I have been really working hard and praying about this fundraising stuff lately.  We, like normal human beings, are always just a little worried about making ends meet, especially now with a new family member in the mix.  I am probably worse than Matt about worrying, as I am the budget maker.  I should know by now that God always provides for us and we’ve never gone hungry or missed a house payment…I am so thankful for that, but I still find myself always concerned about our budget.  Lately I’ve been praying alot, that God will bring us supporters and provide the money we need.  What I forgot is that God doesn’t always answer us in the ways we expect.  Today, while I was hanging out at home with Melody, the doorbell rang…outside on the porch were two medium sized boxes, postmarked from Tennessee.  Very curious, I opened them to find more baby clothes than I have seen in quite some time, and a letter from someone I’ve never met (I assume a friend of my Mom or Grandma) saying that her granddaughter didn’t need these clothes and Melody could have them.  As you may or may not know, baby clothes are expensive, and, while we got alot at the baby showers, we were beginning to get to the age/size that we didn’t get much of at the showers.  All this to say, we will not be needing to buy any baby clothes any time soon, which will take some of the financial burden off of us, even if just a little bit.  I just had to laugh when I thought about this round about answer to my prayer.  God did provide, just not in the “cash” form…instead, He provided a very kind woman, hundreds of miles away, who saw a need and filled it.  God is good…all the time!

Coming Back

17 08 2007

Well it has been interesting coming back from the beach and getting back into “normal” life.  I am stoked that we will get to have small group this week and that I can find out how everyone has been doing.   I think this week we need to get back to playing a game.  So let’s discuss what we want to play this week.

Hello world!

13 08 2007

Here is your opportunity to help The Creek take our small group structure to the next level.  Our very own blogsite built only for our small group.   The Yamhill Group page allows us to stay connected to each other in the same way facebook, or myspace allows people to connect.
